Hatchet Baseball Team Wins Second Game of the Year
Published on 05/07/2024 under Sports Tomahawk's baseball squad notched their second win of the season behind their best offensive performance of the season with a 15-2 victory over Prentice Monday evening. The Hatchets put up season-highs in both runs and hits Monday.  Brayden Larson picked up the win on the mound, giving up two runs on three hits and striking out five. Larson also excelled at the plate, going three for three with a double, two RBIs and three runs scored. Monty Framke went two for three with two RBIS and three runs scored. Wally Horabik had a two-by-four with two hits, two runs, two RBIs, and two walks. The Hatchets' record improves to 2-11 on the season.  Tomahawk will try to make it two in a row tonight in a home Great Northern Conference showdown against Antigo. First pitch is at 5:00 tonight.

Hatchet Golfers Finish Sixth in GNC Meet
Published on 05/07/2024 under Sports Tomahawk's golf squad placed sixth in their Great Northern Conference Meet at the Rhinelander Country Club Monday afternoon.  The Hatchets finished with a team score of 365. Sawyer Hanna finished as Tomahawk's top golfer in the meet, placing tenth overall with a score of 82. Austin Lamer finished second on the team and 18th overall with an 89.  The Hatchets will have another Great Northern Conference meet this afternoon at Bass Lake Country Club in Antigo. Tee-off is at 3:00 today.

Tomahawk Softball Team Loses at Medford
Published on 05/07/2024 under Sports Tomahawk's softball squad dropped their fourth out of their last five Monday at Medford, 11-3.  The Hatchets' three runs were a far cry from the 22 they put up against Northland Pines Friday. Tomahawk's record drops to 8-10 on the season and 3-7 in Great Northern Conference play.  The Hatchets will return home for a non-conference showdown today against Athens. First pitch is at 5:00 this evening.

Hatchet Softball Team Defeats Northland Pines
Published on 05/06/2024 under Sports Tomahawk's softball squad snapped their three-game Great Northern Conference losing streak Friday afternoon in a dominating 22-3 win over Northland Pines Friday. The Hatchets put up 22 runs in just three innings of play.  Tomahawk had two moonshots in the game, which were a three-run shot from Macy Jankiewicz and a two-run bomb from Sara Gebauer.  The win improves Tomahawk's record to 8-9 on the season and 3-5 in Great Northern Conference play. The Hatchets will have their next Great Northern Conference battle in Medford Monday. First pitch is at 4:00 that afternoon.

Hatchet Girls Track & Field Team Wins Otto Bacher
Published on 05/06/2024 under Sports Tomahawk's track and field squads competed in the Otto Bacher Invite in Merrill Friday afternoon.  The Hatchet Girls had another fantastic day, placing first overall out of 11 teams. Tomahawk finished a full 30 points over the second-place finisher, Northland Pines.  The Hatchet boys placed ninth overall, finishing ahead of Crandon and Merrill.  Tomahawk will have their home meet coming up Tuesday at Hatchet Field. Live updates from the home meet will be provided all day on Northwoods 92.5 WJJQ. Field Events begin at 4:15. Hatchet Baseball Team Loses to Mosinee
Published on 05/06/2024 under Sports Tomahawk's baseball squad suffered their eighth straight loss and fourth straight shutout loss, losing at Mosinee Friday 10-0. The Hatchets were also no-hit for the third time in the last four games. Tomahawk has mustered just one hit in their last four, which came in their first game against Mosinee Tuesday.  The loss drops Tomahawk to 1-11 on the season and 1-9 in Great Northern Conference play.  Tomahawk's next game is back at Tyler Kahle Field in Tomahawk against non-conference foe Prentice Monday afternoon. Hatchet Girls Track & Field Team Finishes Second at Three Lakes
Published on 05/01/2024 under Sports Tomahawk's track and field squads competed in the Three Lakes Blue Jay Invite.  The Hatchet girls finished second, placing behind only Rhinelander. Tomahawk's top finishes came in separate field events. Siennah Caulkins placed first in the high jump with a mark of 4'8". Elizabeth Arnott placed first in the pole vault with a jump of 7'9". Kaylynn Sandry placed first in the discus with a 75'9" throw.  The Hatchet boys placed fifth out of seven teams with a team score of 80. Tomahawk's lone top finish came from Jerome Morrison, who had a 9'3" mark in the pole vault.  The Hatchets' next meet is Friday at Merrill.

Hatchet Softball Team Shut-Out by Lakeland
Published on 05/01/2024 under Sports Tomahawk's softball squad was shut out by Lakeland for the second consecutive game, losing, 6-0.  The Hatchets were at the mercy of T-Bird pitcher and University of Arkansas commit Saylor Timmerman, striking out 14 batters. Tomahawk only got two hits in the game, coming from Sammy Gebauer and Macy Jankiewicz.  The loss is Tomahawk's third straight, dropping to 7-9 on the season and 2-5 in Great Northern Conference play. The Hatchets will try to break their losing streak Thursday night in Medford.

Published on 05/01/2024 under Sports The Hatchet baseball squad was shut out by Mosinee at TK Field Tuesday afternoon, losing 16-0. Tomahawk has scored just one run in their last four games, coming in a 6-1 loss to Medford.  The Hatchets mustered just one hit all game, which was a single from Wally Horabik. Monty Framke, Brayden Larson, and Ethan Ihn all gave up five runs or more on the mound.  The loss drops Tomahawk to 1-10 on the season and 1-6 in Great Northern Conference play. The two teams will meet for the second consecutive game Thursday.

The Hatchets finished with a team score of 350, just one stroke behind fourth-place Prentice. Austin Lamer finished as the meet runner-up with a score of 80. Owen Dickrell finished second on the team and 14th overall with a score of 88.  Tomahawk will have their next Great Northern Conference meet at Northwoods Golf Club in Rhinelander Thursday afternoon.

Published on 04/30/2024 under Sports The Hatchet softball squad was shut out for the second consecutive game by a Great Northern Conference opponent, losing to Lakeland 5-0. Over the last two GNC games, Tomahawk was outscored 14-0. The loss drops Tomahawk to 7-8 on the season and 2-5 in Great Northern Conference play.  The two teams will meet again today at Hatchet Field for the second of two games. Hatchet Track & Field Teams Compete in Relay Meet
Published on 04/26/2024 under Sports Tomahawk's track and field squads had top-three finishes in the Eagle Relays at Northland Pines Thursday.  The Hatchet girls had another impressive showing, placing second behind just the host. Tomahawk had three first-place finishes, coming from the 4x1600 meter relays, the 4x100 meter throwers, and the 4000 meter distance relays.  The Hatchet boys placed third overall, finishing behind just the host and Rhinelander. The boys' top finish was in the 4000 meter distance relay.  The next meet for Tomahawk is Tuesday when they travel to Three Lakes.

Published on 04/26/2024 under Sports Tomahawk's softball squad was shut out in Mosinee Thursday afternoon for the second time this season, losing 9-0. The Hatchets were much more competitive, but still came out on the wrong side of the result.  The loss drops Tomahawk to 7-7 on the season and 2-4 in Great Northern Conference play.  The Hatchets will be back in action Monday for the first of two games in back-to-back days against Lakeland.

The Hatchets were no-hit in 12 innings against the T-Birds pitchers Ben Peterson and Drew Warren.  The loss drops Tomahawk to 1-9 on the season and 1-5 in Great Northern Conference play.  The Hatchets will try to get back in the win column Monday against GNC foe Mosinee. Hatchet Golf Team Finishes Sixth at Rolling Oaks
Published on 04/25/2024 under Sports The Hatchet golf squad finished sixth out of 14 teams at Rolling Oaks Golf Course in Barron Wednesday. Tomahawk finished with a total score of 342.  Owen Dickrell had the lowest score of the day for Tomahawk, finishing eighth overall with a score of 77. All Hatchet golfers finished with a score below triple-digits. Sawyer Hanna finished 18th overall with a score of 82.  The Hatchets will have their next Great Northern Conference meet of the season Friday at Black River Golf Course in Medford.
