A 27 year old Merrill woman was arrested Tuesday evening on a warrant charge. The woman was arrested at a residence on Bittersweet Lane in the Town of Pine River after spotting her outside. Deputies had been looking for the woman after she failed to report to jail. She had a warrant issued through probation and parole for her arrest. She was brought to the Lincoln County Jail where she was held.

As of last night James Edward Hanko still had not been located. Hanko was released on Huber privileges last week and did not return. A felony warrant has been entered into the system for his arrest.

A Lincoln County deputy stood by after being called out to a natural gas leak Saturday in the town of Bradley. A 911 call came in at just before 11:30 stating that a skid steer had severed a natural gas line at a residence on Mohawksin Rd. Tomahawk firefighters and a deputy stood by for almost an hour until Wisconsin Public Service was able to respond and shut off the line. No injuries were reported.

Traffic was slowed on Highway 51 Saturday evening following a 2 vehicle crash. The accident was reported north of County Rd. A at just before 10pm. A 17 year old Arbor Vitae man was experiencing mechanical issues and traveling 35 miles per hour. A second vehicle, driven by a 31 year old Monroe woman rear-ended the first vehicle. Both drivers declined medical transport, but a 16 year old Lake Tomahawk girl, who was a passenger in the first vehicle, was transported to Ministry Sacred Heart. Officials stood by for nearly an hour before the highway was cleared.

The number of car/deer crashes was down to 7 this past week, with three needing to be towed after striking the animals. Yesterday a vehicle struck a bear on County Rd. X north of C. The animal survived and left the area.
