A group of Tomahawk 5th graders recently completed a successful campaign to raise money for an area emergency shelter.
Mrs Schmit and a group of 5th grade students collected jewelry for re-sale to benefit NATH and Frederick Place. The students collected, sorted and sold the jewelry at different events and the teacher’s lounges at Tomahawk School District. In the end, they collected over $1,600.
They students donated over $500 worth of items from the Wish List to Frederick Place. The rest of the money will be donated to NATH to purchase the paint needed to cover Frederick Place. The students also got to tour Frederick Place and see where their donations were going.
Carol Scott, Publicity Coordinator said, “This group of hard working and dedicated kids is an inspiration to others.”
All money collected will benefit NATH and Frederick Place. Frederick Place is a sixteen-bed temporary, emergency shelter for families and single men women who are experiencing homelessness. Frederick Place has provided over five thousand nights of shelter since opening on January 31, 2011.
