North Central Technical College held a ribbon cutting ceremony yesterday on a new state of the art training center.
The Wausau Campus of the school officially opened the Advanced Manufacturing & Engineering (AME) Center of Excellence. It is designed to allow students to learn about cutting edge manufacturing methods and technologies, as well as work and hone their own skills on those subjects.
The lab includes instruction on 3-D printers, laser cutting equipment and CNC tooling. Developers say the lab was a collaborative project between the school and area businesses. It gives students the opportunity to learn skills necessary for the job market in the area.
Classes have already begun in the lab and are expected to increase enrollment in the future.
