An inmate in Taylor County jail has died of an apparent suicide.

The Taylor County sheriff’s department says the 21 year old man was found hanging from a sheet Friday night. He was cut down immediately but was non-responsive, and efforts to resuscitate him were unsuccessful.

The inmate was pronounced dead at Memorial Health Center in Medford a short time later. He had been in the Taylor County Jail for about a week on misdemeanor charges.

An outside Sheriff’s Office from Rusk County is working with the review, but foul play is not suspected.
