City officials in Merrill will be considering their next Fire Chief Tonight.

The city will hold a special personnel and finance committee meeting tonight. On the agenda is a resolution ratifying the selection of David Savone as the next fire chief.

Current Chief Bob Odegard is retiring after 33 years. He has served as a firefighter, Lieutenant, Deputy Chief and Chief.

According to the agenda, Savone has already accepted the offer from the Police and Fire Commission, who recommended him at a meeting last week.

After the Personnel and Finance Committee sets the salary, the resolution will then move to tonight’s Full Merrill City Council. Those meetings are at 5:15 and 7:00 respectively.
