09 Oct News

An officer responded to a report of suspicious activity at Pride Park. The reporting party observed a woman drop something in a garbage can, then a short time later a male went to that garbage can, saw the reporting party and left. The reporting party thought it may have been a potential drug deal. A check of the cans did not reveal anything.

At around 2:30 in the afternoon, a male was reportedly laying in the grass near the library and hadn’t moved in nearly an hour. An officer located the 24 year old as he was just standing up. He appeared intoxicated and a ride was arranged for the man.

An area business reported a shoplifter at just before 6:00 Saturday evening. The man attempted to flee into the woods. The 27 year old was arrested, charged with theft and taken to the jail. Bond was posted and the man was released.

A resident on East Prospect Avenue reported Sunday the window of a vehicle was smashed out in the overnight hours. Several items including a CD player and wallet were taken from the vehicle.

The department was alerted of scam attempts at a local hotel. A person calls the front desk asking for a guest. When put through, the suspects tell the guests the hotel computer crashed and they need their identity and payment information again. The attempts were unsuccessful and no losses were incurred.
