Last night members of the community gathered for the annual Tomahawk Chamber of Commerce annual meeting and Awards.
The ambassador award this year went to the Tomahawk School District. Spirit award winner was Don Johnson, who retired as police chief earlier this year. Mary Lu Voermans was awarded the Service Award and Kathy Rankin was presented with the lifetime service award. The evenings activities also included Secretary of Tourism Stephanie Klett, a Dessert Auction and commedienne Mary Mack.
The Chamber also presented their annual report. They said they distributed more than $250,000 in Chamber bucks. As the local welcome center for the community, they had more than 75,000 people contact through the web-site, phone, emails and walk-ins. In fact the website averages 5,000 visits each month. They are also active on twitter and Facebook with more than 1,500 friends.
The Chamber will be closing out 2012 with a pair of annual events. On November 16, they will continue with the Venison Feed kicking off hunting season. The following weekend, on the 24th of November, they will kick off the holiday season with the Christmas Parade and Winter Wonderland.
