Tomahawk Main Street will informally kick off the autumn holiday season with their annual Fall Family Festival tomorrow.
Due to the threat of rain, the afternoon events will be held at SARA Park. Those events include Build-a Scarecrow contest kick-off and a Hands-on Pumpkin Illustration Activity with Guest Pumpkin Illustrator Mary Iverson.
Tomahawk Main Street Executive Director Liz Milender says, “This is one event I personally look forward to each year.” Adding, “We truly offer families and the community the opportunity to make lasting memories on Main Street.”
Families, non-profits, classrooms & businesses are invited to make scarecrows (free of charge, some materials supplied, as they last). Those making scarecrows are encouraged to also bring their own unique supplies to create a winning scarecrow. Basic supplies of straw, limited clothing etc. are provided. Participants are welcome to take their scarecrows home or enter it into the 2nd Annual Scarecrow Contest and compete for cash prizes. As with last year, the scarecrows entered into the contest line the sidewalks in front of the businesses through Halloween where the public then votes for their favorite scarecrow(s).
Earlier is the all new Halloween Pet Costume Contest kick-off and Pet Parade. Dressed up pets will parade around downtown for a pet’s version of “trick-or-treating.” with treats such as all natural dog bones . The parade will wrap up with a free photo to enter in the pet costume contest. The parade and contest begins at 9 in front of Mamma Mia’s Pizza.
