A Deputy and the Merrill Fire Department responded to a report of a tree on a power line in the Town of Scott Wednesday night. Just after 8:00 PM a resident on Creek Ave phoned the Sheriff’s Office and reported the incident. Firefighters were on the scene for about half an hour until Wisconsin Public Service arrived to resolve the matter.

A 61 year old Gleason man was injured after a two car crash Friday evening. The two vehicles were traveling north on County Road K in the town of Merrill. The first vehicle stopped and made a U-turn and as he re-entered the roadway, he struck the trailing vehicle. The man in the trailing vehicle was transferred to Ministry Good Samaritan with non-life threatening injuries. The man driving the first vehicle will be cited as a result of the crash.

The Merrill Fire Department along with Deputies responded to a report of a possible structure fire Saturday morning in the Town of Merrill. Just after 10:00 AM a caller reported a possible fire at a cabin on Swamp Rd. Firefighters from Merrill responded and requested assistance from the Pine River Fire Department. Minutes later a Deputy arrived on the scene and found that a small fire was already extinguished. The source of the fire may have been a loose connection on a new LP tank according to the Deputies report.

A thirty three year old Merrill man was brought to the Lincoln County Jail while another Merrill man was transported by EMS and may face charges after Deputies and EMS responded to a disturbance in the Town of Corning early Sunday morning. A cell 911 call reported the incident on Farmingdale Rd at 12:35 AM. When Deputies arrived they found the fifty six year old victim injured. He was transported by Merrill EMS to Ministry Good Samaritan Health Center. Deputies reports indicate information on the incident was scarce due to alcohol being involved. Another man was booked on a disorderly conduct charge and released after posting bond, both he and the fifty six year old man may face additional charges from the incident.

The number of car deer crashes was lower again this week as compared to previous weeks with nine being reported. A Gleason man struck a turkey this past Tuesday. At least two vehicles struck a bear on US Hwy 51 south of County Rd D south of Tomahawk Thursday just before midnight. The Deputies reported noted a boat and trailer were towed from the scene.
