Yesterday a new law went into effect for younger drivers across the state of Wisconsin prohibiting use of cell phones, including hands free devices, while driving for those with instructional or probationary licenses. Violators are subject to a fine starting at $20 and climbing to $100 for repeat offenders. The lone exception for the law is contacting for emergency purposes. Texting while driving was already illegal in the state for all driver’s regardless of their license.
