An Irma man was injured preparing for hunting season.
The 48 year old man said he was working the action on a 9mm handgun when it discharged and hit him in the hand. He said he did not know there was a round in the chamber of the weapon at the time.
The victim was transported to Ministry Sacred Heart Hospital in Tomahawk by private auto after the incident. He was eventually treated and released.
He told law enforcement he was getting his firearms ready for hunting season at the time. No criminal charges will result from the accidental shooting.
