A Merrill woman was taken into custody after being accused of stealing lottery tickets.
Late last week Remington Oil Convenience Store in Gleason reported that someone entered an office and stole three packs of scratch off lottery tickets. Those tickets were valued at over $1,000.
Law enforcement and store management observed video footage and a former employee, 22 year old Jennifer L. Boyd was identified. She still visited the store and was able to gain access to the office and safe where the tickets were stored according to a deputies report.
After contacting the lottery office, it was discovered that over $500 of the tickets had already been cashed at gas stations in the Merrill area.
Boyd was taken in on a probation hold and formal charges of burglary and theft are expected from the district attorney’s office this week.
