Tom Tiffany will help make up a new Republican majority in the State Senate. The former area representative defeated challengers Susan Sommer and Paul Ehlers for the 12th district senate race.
Tiffany was projected with 56 percent of the more than 90,000 votes in the district. Sommer received 40% running as a democrat and Ehlers gathered 3% of the vote.

Democrat Kevin Koth followed with a little more than 12,000 and Independent Patrick Tjugam received just under 1,400.
In the 34th district, encompassing the Rhinelander, Minocqua, and Eagle River areas, Rob Swearingen will be heading to Madison. He received a 57% majority in the four candidate race. Merlin Van Buren was next closest with 36% of the vote.
