Despite what seemed like constant coverage of this year’s presidential election, here in Lincoln County turn-out was nearly identical.
Initial voting results in Lincoln County indicate that 15,200 people voted in Tuesday’s general election. In 2008 the number was 15,300. Each represents about 2/3 of eligible voters. Absentee ballots being mailed in will still be added to this year’s total. They had to be post marked by Election Day and received by Friday.
This voting cycle had one more contested local race, the district attorney race.
By comparison, in 2010, the most recent non-presidential general election, a little more 11,000 people voted.
And the highly politicized Governer recall earlier this year?
12,300 ballots cast.
