High school students from the Great Northern Conference will once again be participating in the Great Northern Conference music festival.
This year’s festival will be held at Rhinelander High School tomorrow (Saturday), concluding with a public concert.
Music directors from each of the 7 GNC schools nominate approximately 20 of their top musicians to form an honors band and an honors chorus.
Tomorrow monring the groups begin to rehearse with the guest clinician/director for each ensemble. This year’s guest band director is Dr. Timothy Yontz, Director of Music Education at Wheaton College in Wheaton, Illinois. This year’s guest chorus director is Dr. Lucinda Thayer, Director of Choral Activities at the University of Wisconsin – Stevens Point.
The 140 student’s day culminates in a concert open to the public on Saturday at 7:00 pm in the Rhinelander High School Auditorium. Admission is $4.00.
