As Americans have been celebrating veterans across the country the past week in honor of Veteran’s Day, one Wausau man has used art to do the same.
Patrick Plunkett, a visual artist and veteran himself, has created a sculpture entitled “A Salute to the Honor Flight.” The brushed nickel piece stands nearly three feet in height and is fabricated in two distinct parts.
The artist says it represents an effort to pay tribute to the “Honor Flight” and to all the men and women, past and present, who served in the armed forces of the United State of America in order to protect the country and its freedoms.
If desired, you can view this piece in the Center for Visual Arts Loft Gallery in Wausau. The piece will be available during normal viewing hours through Dec. 29, as part of the “Wausau Regional Art Program” exhibit.
