13 Nov News

A former Northland Pines teacher reached a plea deal in a case involving child pornography.

Michael Wang, was convicted on two counts of possession of child pornography after entering a guilty plea. Eight additional counts were dismissed, but will be considered at the sentencing hearing.

Wang is a former middle school math teacher for the Northland Pines School District. While using a school issued laptop computer, the 47 year old began engaging in online, inappropriate sexual chatting, at times with minor females. Monitoring software installed on the school computers alerted school officials to the inappropriate chatting. Officials discovered two flash drives in his classroom containing inappropriate pictures and videos of underage children.

Each count carries a maximum penalty of 25 years in prison and a $100,000 fine.
