In order to recognize outstanding alumni of Tomahawk High School, a “Distinguished Alumni Award” has been established.
At last night’s Tomahawk School Board, members approved the award and its criteria. The purpose statement is acknowledging those who have maintained a high standard of excellence and distinguished themselves through their work, personal accomplishments or in the lives of others.
District administrator Roger Rindo said there is “no limitation just because you came from a small town.”
Recipients must be a graduate a least 15 years prior to nomination. Once a nomination is made, it will be reconsidered on an annual basis.
Nominations for the inaugural award will open in January through February 25, with a final selection in early March.
The distinguished alumnus will be recognized at the commencement ceremony and will be invited to address the graduates. A plaque will also be displayed at the High School.
The board expressed excitement with the award.
