Facing a budget shortfall, the Rhinelander School District will be asking district residents for support in a referendum.
The board had considered massive cuts to various programs to make up the nearly $3 million gap. Cuts being considered included district charter schools, extracurricular funding, elective courses and teaching positions.
Parents, students, and other community members spoke at the their board meeting last night in a crowded auditorium.
Board members unanimously approved sending the issue to the voters.
