15 Nov News

Antigo is one of three cities in the state to be awarded a Brownfield Site Assessment Grant from the Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation.

The Brownfield Site Assessment Grant (SAG) Program is state program for WEDC to grant funds to local governments to perform environmental investigations, demolition of structures, removal of abandoned containers and underground tank systems.

Antigo has been awarded a $15,000 grant to assist the city in environmental investigation and storage tank removal on a site at 803 Superior Street. Following remediation and building rehabilitation on the half-acre site, the property is to be developed as a retail center.

Ashland will receive a $36,000 for a project establishing a residential community enhanced with significant amounts of green space.

Stevens Point will receive a $34,500 to assist in environmental investigation on a site being developed by Mid-State Technical College. The Community Development Authority of the City of Stevens Point acquired the 3.83 acre site property in October 2011 by condemnation. Mid-State will be renovating a portion of the former CenterPoint mall as part of Mid-State’s new campus.
