Merrill will continue with the second phase of construction at their airport following an announcement from the state.
Yesterday, Governor Scott Walker announced a just under $1.4 million project for the second phase of taxiway construction at the Merrill Municipal Airport in Lincoln County.
Eric Johnson, airport development engineer with the Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT), says the project will continue work started last year on the parallel taxiway to the airport’s primary runway. The second phase includes the paving, lighting and utility work of the project.
A while a majority of money is coming from the Federal Aviation Administration (~$1.3 million), the state and the city of Merrill will each be contributing matching funding of $59,000.
Construction is underway and is expected to be completed by June of next year.
