Governor Scott Walker was in the northwoods earlier this week, but this time not for politics.
The Governor spent the first part of the week participating in a Wisconsin Tradition, trying to bag a buck. Walker hunted land in Presque Isle, in far northern Vilas County.
He noted during the hunt that it is about more than the deer, but also about being with friends, getting outdoors and away from it all.
In his first term, Walker has taken steps to improve hunting and outdoor activities in the state, including naming a deer czar, opening more state lands, and offering first time hunter licenses at a discount.
Unfortunately for Walker, he did not see a deer. He hopes to get back out into the woods this weekend.
