While today is a day to give thanks, we can also thank those who give.
Throughout the past year, we have brought you stories of Northwoods residents holding collections and fundraisers for causes ranging from disaster relief to cancer awareness.
School age children from Tomahawk have collected venison for seniors and Nickels for the Never Forgotten Honor Flight and some even shaved their heads for childhood cancer research.
Ongoing collections include both the Lincoln County Veterans Service Office and St. Mary’s church with winter clothing drives going to homeless veterans and Superstorm Sandy victims respectively. Other opportunities include the Red Cross Blood Drives, Kinship in Tomahawk, the Salvation Army bell ringers, back pack program, food pantries, the Frederick Place homeless shelter, Toys for Tots and more!
Both Loaders and Anglers Inn held Thanksgiving meals today, pay what you can, with proceeds going to the Food Pantry and to the Red Cross.
Stay tuned to WJJQ for details on more of these opportunities to give.
