Lincoln County continued a recent trend seeing its preliminary unemployment drop once again this past month.
The Department of Workforce Development released numbers from the US Bureau of Labor Statistics earlier in the week. The numbers showed that unemployment fell in 71 of 72 counties overall from September to October.
Lincoln County figures from October are 7.5%, down from 8.2% in September. The number is also down from October of last year. The county currently has the 5th highest rate in the state, 12 other counties are in that 7.5% range, include Vilas, Langlade and Florence counties.
Oneida County’s rates are slightly better at 6.8% down 0.6% from the previous month. Dane County continues to have the lowest rate while Menominee has the highest.
As always, the numbers are calculated with unemployment claims and a random survey of households. They are meant to give a rough idea of the unemployment rate, and don’t factor in people who live in one county and commuted to another for work.
