The Oneida County Disabled American Veterans van will be adding a fourth day to its weekly route at the start of next year.
The Oneida County DAV van takes veterans who live in any area county to the VA Medical Center in Iron Mountain, MI. The route begins in Rhinelander and it either travels the northern route via Lake Tomahawk, Woodruff, etc. or the eastern route via Monico, Crandon, etc.
Currently, the van runs Monday through Wednesday but beginning January 2, 2013, the van will run four days per week, Monday through Thursday. On Monday and Tuesday, it will travel the northern route. On Wednesday and Thursday, it will travel the eastern route.
To make DAV van reservations, please call (715) 369-6227. Seating is limited and reservations will be made on a first come, first serve basis.
The van is coordinated out of the Oneida County Veterans Service Office and the drivers are unpaid volunteers. It is because of the selfless drivers this free service can be offered to our veterans. If you are interested in being a volunteer driver, please contact the Veterans Service Office at (715) 369-6127.
