A Forest County man has been sentenced for his role in a Mole Lake stabbing believed to be gang related.
Melvin Zarda will receive 4 years in prison, and 5 years of extended supervision. The 18 year old had previously been convicted of second degree reckless injury. He was originally charged with 6 felonies in the incident. He entered a plea deal, in exchange for testifying against others involved.
The six men allegedly attacked the victim who was planning to testify in another case. The 32-year-old Wausau man survived the incident, but suffered four stab wounds, multiple lacerations and facial trauma. A 17-year-old pregnant woman was bound with duct tape during the same attack, but escaped.
In the next few weeks, Craig McGeshick and Preston Krustensterna are also expected to be sentenced for their roles. They were facing similar charges to Zarda.
Three more men will be going to trial at the start of next year for their roles in the attack.
