Two Merrill residents were arrested on drug charges after a traffic stop last Tuesday near Merrill. The vehicle was stopped for an equipment violation. While speaking with the driver, the deputy noticed a large bong sitting behind the driver’s seat. The 22 year old driver was taken into custody for possession of drug paraphernalia and the passenger was arrested for violating terms of her probation.

Corning Firefighters were called to a fire Saturday morning. The fire began in a woodpile and as officials arrived, it was threatening a home on the property. The firefighters put out the flames before they could spread. The homeowner said the outdoor wood burner had previously started the pile on fire, but they thought they had put it out.

The weekend snowfall caused problems on Lincoln County Roadways. Sunday morning deputies responded to 5 crashes and four slide-ins likely caused by that early morning snow. Two people received minor injuries from the crashes. A plow truck in the town of King struck a power pole, bringing down lines across the road way.

Eleven people struck deer this past week on Lincoln County roadways, including one which caused injuries to a driver from shattered glass.
