The Tomahawk Chamber is once again participating in a statewide winter clothing drive.
This year the Tomahawk Chamber, along with nearly 80 other tourism organizations will serve as drop off points for “The Big Bundle Up.” The charity drive, put on by the Wisconsin Department of Tourism, will collect new and gently used gloves, hats, scarves, coats, sweaters and other winter gear.
Residents and Visitors to the Tomahawk Area are encouraged to donate winter gear now until January 4, 2013 at the Tomahawk Chamber of Commerce and Visitors Center during normal business hours.
Last year the Tomahawk Chamber participated in the Great Lakes Mitten Campaign, which was a friendly competition between Wisconsin and Michigan, debating which state looked more like a mitten. As part of that campaign the chamber collected mittens that were donated to the families of the Friends program at the Tomahawk Elementary School.
Tomahawk Regional Chamber of Commerce executive director Tamra Anderson says, “It was great to be part of The Great Lakes Mitten Campaign last year and we are really excited serve as a local drop off site for “The Big Bundle Up” this year.”
She added that she’s hoping for a great response, and noted that the items donated will go back to organizations and charities in the area.“
