Two Rhinelander Middle School students have been selected to go to Europe this summer as part of an ambassador program.
Eighth Grader Rachael Saal and 7th grader Kaiya Shrader will travel to Austria, Switzerland, France and Italy through People to People International.
President Dwight D. Eisenhower established the movement in 1956 with the belief that ordinary citizens of participating countries could make a difference where governments could not. Since that time more than 500,000 people have traveled on the life changing journeys to all 7 continents.
The two girls will learn about each country’s history, government, culture, religion and food while spreading international goodwill and understanding.
To help cover some of the costs, Kaiya and Rachael will be having various fundraising activities throughout the winter. Coming up tomorrow, they will have a cookie sale in the Trig’s Mall in Rhinelander.
