The Wisconsin Tax Payers Alliance noted both Marathon County and North Central Technical College when discussing statewide levies on 2013 property taxes.
The net amount of property taxes sought by various units of government should rise about 0.7% to $9.55 billion, according to WISTAX researchers. The projected increase is slightly higher than last year (0.2%) but less than the two years prior to that.
The report says that school districts are the largest users, with tech colleges having the highest. Individual “tech” districts vary, but Wausau-based North Central district had the lowest change at just over 2%.
Meanwhile, the statewide county average remained virtually the same, less than a 1% increase. According to the Wisconsin Tax Payers Alliance, of the 15 counties that trimmed levies, the second largest reduction came in Marathon county at -3.1%.
The mission of the nonprofit., nonpartisan Wisconsin Taxpayers Alliance (WISTAX) has been rooted in the belief that an active, informed citizenry is essential for effective representative government.
