Nearly a years worth of planning will came to fruition this morning for the Tomahawk Community Development Authority.
The new Authority held their inaugural meeting, with an introduction of members and the authority, public comments and the by-laws.
According to the resolution creating the authority, the CDA will work on blight elimination, urban renewal and redevelopment, and community development. They will also encourage well-planned, safe neighborhoods; decent living environment; adequate places of employment; and increase the general property tax base of the city.
Many of the actions including acquisitions, selling or leasing properties, issuance of debt, expenditures in excess of a set level or hiring of staff or consultants will be subject to review and approval by the city council according to those by laws.
The initial members include: Roger Schlegel, Brian Viegut, Joe Story, Bill Erickson, Rod Greil, Gregg Albert and Pat Haskin. They were appointed by the Mayor and approved by the council.
