A Rhinelander person may have lept to safety while escaping a fire at a residence yesterday.

Several fire departments in the area responded to that fire on Arbutus Street in Rhinelander at around 5:00 yesterday evening.

Initial reports indicated that the lone resident at the time may have jumped through the front window to escape the blaze. That person was taken to the hospital for treatment of lacerations, but is expected to recover. No other injuries were initially reported.

Crews quickly had the fire under control and extinguished. An investigation into what caused the fire will begin.
