Area unemployment rates continued their up and down trend, rising again in the most recent numbers released.
Late last week, the Department of Work Force development released the figures for the state from November. Of 72 counties, all but three had increases between October and November. Those remaining three had no change.
Here in Lincoln County the rate climbed back to 8.2% in November, up from 7.5% in October. Those numbers put Lincoln County with the 12th highest rate in the state. They did remain relatively unchanged from one year ago.
Meanwhile several other northwoods counties saw rates rise at an even higher level. Oneida County’s rate rose 2% up to 8.8% and Vilas County rates rose 2.7% up to 9.8%. Most northwoods counties continue to remain in the upper third highest rates in the state.
Dane and Pierce Counties have the lowest rate at 4.2 and Menominee the highest at 13.5%.
