A former Northland Pines teacher will be sentenced today after being convicted of child pornography charges.
Back in November, forty seven year old Michael Wang pleaded guilty for two counts of child pornography, both felonies. In exchange for the guilty pleas, 8 other charges were dismissed, but will be read in. Each of the two counts carries a maximum penalty of 25 years imprisonment, a $100,000 fine,
While using a school issued laptop, the former math teacher began engaging in online, inappropriate chatting, at times with minor females. Monitoring software installed on the school computers alerted school officials to the inappropriate conversations.
While investigating, school officials also discovered two digital flash drives in a filing cabinet in the classroom, containing pictures and videos of child pornography.
Vilas County Judge Neal Nielson will sentence Wang at 1:30 this afternoon.
