Tomahawk’s new Community Development Authority is wasting little time in taking action.
At just their second meeting, the newly formed Authority looked into the issue of blight, and began by establishing a definition of blighted areas and properties for the city.
The first resolution declared the area between River Street and Somo Avenue. Members hope that they can begin working on the road and sewer in that area coming up this year. They also said there would be the potential for owners to work with contractors during any potential projects.
That first resolution will be sent to the City Council for full approval at their next meeting on January 8. At that point, it would enter the public hearing phase.
In addition, the Authority also elected its officers. Roger Schlegel will serve as the inaugural Chairman. Gregg Albert will serve as vice chair, and Pat Haskin will be secretary/treasurer.
