A man who has contributed to making the northwoods safer is retiring.
Today is the final day for Lincoln County Emergency Management Department Director Brian Sladek.
Led by Sladek, the department Lincoln County prepared by emphasizing the four key elements of the emergency management cycle: Mitigation, Preparedness, Response and Recovery. Perhaps the most recent notable example of his work were with the recovery following the Tornado in Merrill in the spring of 2011.
As he retires, it is safe to say that Sladek made the northwoods safer for everyone to enjoy.
