A fight between two Merrill brothers, ages 39 and 41, will result in a referral to the DA. A deputy responded to Ministry Good Samaritan on New Year’s eve. He spoke with the younger sibling who had been transferred via ambulance. According to the victim, a family issue turned physical and he was hit in the head. The victim refused to cooperate, but a witness said the elder brother picked up the younger and dropped him on a table causing it to collapse. Alcohol was a factor and both men are being referred on disorderly conduct charges.
A 48 year old Tomahawk woman was arrested following a disturbance in the town of Skanawan. The victim said a verbal argument turned physical and the woman pushed and kicked him. She was transferred to the jail where she was book on a disorderly conduct charge.
A 50 year old Tomahawk man was taken into custody Wednesday morning on a traffic charge. The deputy stopped the vehicle for an equipment violation on South Tomahawk Avenue. The deputy detected an odor of alcohol and requested the driver perform a field sobriety test. As a result the man was taken into custody for first offense OWI.
A Thorp man lead deputies on a short high speed chase on Friday evening. The deputy recorded the man going 84 in a 65 zone on highway 51. When the deputy pulled out to stop the vehicle, it turned off onto a different road and increased to speeds approaching 90mph. The vehicle attempted to slow at an intersection, but went into the ditch. The driver was booked for felony fleeing. He was also cited for 2 counts speeding, reckless driving, driving left of center, and failure to obey a stop sign.
