Lake Nokomis will be the place to be this weekend for winter sports enthusiasts, with a pair of events taking place.
Amvets Post 724 and The NCO Club is holding its 5th Annual Ice Fishing Tournament at the Lake Nokomis Highway N Boat Landing. Public tournament registration takes place from 7:00 AM until 9:00 AM with fishing starting at 8:00 AM and ends at 2:00 PM. Last year they had more than 300, and this year they set a goal of 400 participants for this fun event.
Prizes will be awarded for Northern, Crappie, Walleye, Blue Gill and Perch, as well as various other raffles throughout the day. They will once again be offering fishing with veterans and the wounded warrior program.
Admission to the event is adults $10.00 and children 9 and under $5.00. All proceeds go to military members and programs.
Meanwhile, just around the corner, the Wisconsin Kids Snowmobile Racing Association will be hosting their weekly races. The WKSRA is fun family racing league attracting kids from 4-15 years old from Wisconsin and various surrounding states.
Those races will start at 10:00 on Saturday morning in the bay behind Gators.
