The American Red Cross is holding a blood drive today in Tomahawk, while also commending those who donate.
January is National Blood Donor Month and the American Red Cross would like to thank the millions of dedicated blood donors across the country for helping ensure a stable blood supply for patients in need.
Every day around 44,000 pints of blood are needed in hospitals to treat trauma victims, surgery patients, organ transplant recipients, premature babies and more.
Because of the inclement weather and seasonal illnesses, January is often a challenging month to collect blood donations.
Upcoming Red Cross Collections in the area include in Tomahawk at Grace Lutheran Church on January 15 from 11:30 to 5:30 and the AmericInn in Rhinelander January 30.
