Organizers of a statewide winter clothing collection have deemed it a success.
The program, entitled the “Big Bundle Up” brought in thousands of warm clothing for people in need. Organizers said more than 17,000 items such as hats, scarves, and mittens were donated statewide.
The Tomahawk Chamber of Commerce once again participated in the cold weather drive, serving as a drop off point. Last year they participated in the Great Lakes Mitten Campaign.
The items collected are then given to local organizations who distribute them to people in need.
A Wisconsin based company, Wisconsin Knitwear donated 500 winter hats to the program. In addition to drop-offs at area Chamber of Commerce locations, they held collections at late season Packer games at Lambeau Field.
