A man has died of a self-inflicted gun shot following a chase in Oneida County.
On Monday evening, the Oneida County Sheriff’s Office received a request from Waukesha County. They sought assistance in locating an individual who’s family members expressed concern for his safety and welfare.
At just after 2 yesterday morning, a patrol deputy located the vehicle near the Rainbow Flowage. When that deputy attempted to make contact, the driver fled the area at a high rate of speed along county highways O and D, at one point displaying a handgun.
The man exited the vehicle armed with that handgun, and officers observed him fire a single round resulting in his death.
The man’s name is being withheld pending notification of his family. The death remains under investigation by the Oneida County Sheriff’s Office and the Oneida County Medical Examiner’s Office.
