A Tomahawk teacher and special Olympics coach is heading off to South Korea following a send-off last night.
Last Fall Bonnie Kahn was selected to coach the United States Special Olympics Cross Country ski team at the 2013 games. Last night was a send-off event which was held in Madison.
In the lead up to the games, the team also had a training camp in Lake Placid. More than 3,300 athletes representing 112 countries are expected to participate in the 10th World Winter Games. Opening ceremonies in Pyeongchang and Gangneung, South Korea will take place the 29th.
While no Tomahawk athletes will join Kahn, 3 participants are coming from Wisconsin. A cross country skier from Hayward, a snowboarder from Neillsville and a snowshoer from Green Bay.
