Tomahawk PD Goes on Facebook, Seeks K-9 Unit

25 Jan News

The Tomahawk Police Department is undergoing a few changes including making an online presence and seeking help to fund a K-9 unit.

Last week the department established their first official Facebook page. Police Chief Al Elvins says they will use the page as another method to make alerts and announcements, while keeping in contact with the community.

Meanwhile the department is taking further steps to get a K-9 unit on the force.

The dog with its training would cost around $12,000. The Friends of the Tomahawk Dog Park kicked off donations with a $1,000 contribution. In addition to community donations, the department will also seek various grants specifically for k-9 units.

They also plan to make a “Challenge Coin” available for purchase with the monies raised going to the K-9 fund. More information on the coins including pre-order is available on their Facebook page or at the department.
