Special Olympics Coach Bonnie Kahn of Tomahawk continues to update us on the World Games being held in South Korea.
Coach Kahn also says that the team is starting to rake in the medals. Jason Suino of Hayward came into the 10k as the top ranked male in the division. He skied the tough course well and will be coming home with a gold medal.
Daina Shilts of Neillsville won a pair of silver medals in snowboarding slalom. The third member of team USA from Wisconsin Alexander Guild of DePere also took home a bronze medal over the weekend in snowshoeing.
Kahn wrapped up by saying just how impressive all the Special Olympics athletes are, pointing out an Austrian Cross Country Skier competing with one arm. She also noted how well they are handling being in a foreign country, many away from home for the first time.
She says that the competitions are wrapping up today with several more cross country ski events and then the closing ceremonies.
