Tomahawk residents continued their considerable generosity for public safety departments.
Both the Tomahawk Police and Fire Departments hosted a fundraising event on Wednesday at Tomahawk Family Restaurant. The Fire Department is raising money for a new rescue boat, while the Police Department continues to seek funds to establish a K9 unit.
The two departments split nearly $2,700 raised through the event, plus an addition $600 due to donations.
The police department is also selling patches for $5, in which they brought in around $500. According to Police Chief Al Elvins, the event and patch sales raised nearly $2,200 for their department.
Chief Elvins says they appreciate the support of the community. They are still short of their overall goal and will continue to raise funds.
