Members of the Tomahawk Business Community and Public attended informational meetings about the upcoming North 4th Street Project.
Board of Public Works Director Mike Tolvstad discussed the project and distributed informational packets.
The project includes the reconstruction of 4 blocks of North Fourth, from Somo Avenue to River Street. In addition to the roadway, they will also work on the underground utilities, and existing streetlights will be replaced with new poles and LED lights.
The tentative schedule includes final plans by March 1 and awarding the contract April 1. Construction would begin in May and end by September 6 prior to the Fall Ride.
The preliminary construction estimate is $1.2 million. The city has applied for a community development block grant of up to $500,000. Remaining funds come from local sources including general obligation funds, sewer and water rates, TIF funds and special assessments.
