Response to Death of Oneida County Jail Administrator in Fire

The Oneida County Sheriff’s office has released a statement about a co-worker who died in a fire earlier this week.

Kaye Juel had been the Oneida County Sheriff’s Jail administrator since a 1994 promotion. She began her career in the Sheriff’s office in 1983.

Sheriff’ Grady Hartman said, “We are deeply saddened by the tragic and sudden loss of Kay and her husband Mark.” He went on to say, “All of the employee’s in the Sheriff’s office value and honor all of those who have served us in the public safety community and our thoughts and prayers will remain with Kaye and Mark and their families and friends.

The fire occurred early Tuesday morning at their home in the town of Cassian. The preliminary investigation found no signs of criminal activity or foul play. The fire and deaths remain under investigation.
