Thanks to the generous support of the northwoods, the Rhinelander Area Food Pantry had a successful 2012.
As a result of that generosity and hard work, the Food Pantry was able to provide an average of 60 pounds of food per household visit last year. In total they distributed more than 450,000 pounds of food. On average this went to over 400 households.
The Food Pantry was also able to provide weekend food for the Kids Backpack program. This include an additional 15,000 pounds of food. They were also able to provide fresh fruits and vegetables from the Community Garden.
Organizers say that a donation of just $120, or $10 a month, provides enough food to feed a family of 4 for a month. For Rhinelander area residents, more information can be obtained by contacting the executive director Guy Hansen at 715-282-5810.
