A Rhinelander man was sentenced yesterday after violating terms of his sex offender registration.
According to court records Albert Chagnon was sentenced to 2 years of prison and 3 years of extended supervision. The 31 year old entered a no-contest plea to the felony charge of failure to update sex offender information.
He was accused of contacting a minor girl, the same one he had previously been in contact with. His defense attorney argued for a lesser sentence because he hasn’t physically harmed anyone. Chagnon was previously convicted of possession of child pornography.
In addition to the prison time, Judge Michael Bloom also ordered a fine and probation costs, and he is not allowed to contact the victim.
